    What opens with the product

    The assessment above is the first of the five parts POPIAdesk measures. These are the other four, and what each is worth out of a hundred.

    The eight conditions, in plain terms

    Every duty in the Act hangs off one of these eight. Open each one to see what it asks of you.

    • Accountability

      The responsible party must ensure compliance with all conditions.

    • Processing limitation

      Information must be processed lawfully and in a reasonable manner.

    • Purpose specification

      Information must be collected for a specific, explicitly defined, and lawful purpose.

    • Further processing limitation

      Information must not be processed in a way incompatible with the original purpose.

    • Information quality

      Steps must be taken to ensure information is complete, accurate, and up to date.

    • Openness

      Data subjects must be made aware of the collection and processing of their information.

    • Security safeguards

      Appropriate security measures must be in place to protect personal information.

    • Data subject participation

      Data subjects have the right to access, correct, and delete their information.
